My daughter is well-known among friends for being the one with the long, blonde hair. I call her Goldilocks sometimes, but when we brush those locks it’s a continuous battle. No matter what kind of shampoo, conditioner, smoothing cream, defrizz whatever it doesn’t work on her hair. She gets knots eventually either way and She hates the brush, she hates the elastic, she hates having her hair done. Period. Yesterday, upon her daily hair brushing she was angry at me for snagging a knot with the brush and said “I want to cut my hair off!” So I said “If that’s really what you want, we’ll take you before school starts and get a fresh haircut”. She agreed and left it at that.
Today we were out shopping with family who came to town to visit. Standing outside waiting with the stroller for everyone else to come out of the store an old lady stopped to talk to us. She had a very sweet disposition, reminded me of my grandmother. She said “You’re daughter has lovely hair, it’s so long I just love it” I politely thanked her. She went on, “I had all boys, and they have all boys so I never got the chance to raise a little girl so when I see one as beautiful as yours I have to stop and say thankyou for giving me the blessing of seeing her” I again politely thanked her and she went on her way.
DD turns to me and says “Mommy, I don’t want to cut my hair anymore”. I thought that was the sweetest thing anyones ever said about my daughter to me who weren’t family. I wanted to share that with everyone. Maybe its me missing my granny or maybe the fact that little old lady touched my heart after me having somewhat of a bad week. It was a nice moment.
Until Next time….Keep dreaming always xo
